Overview
Pharmaceutical companies face significant challenges in developing a pipeline of safe and effective new drugs. HCS assays are critical for drug discovery and can be used in target identification and validation, lead-compound discovery, selection, and optimization. Insights from these information-rich assays can help researchers discover the most effective drugs more efficiently, while getting flawed compounds to "fail fast," saving considerable time and expense. To best utilize the huge amounts of image data generated by HCS assays, it is essential to have a solution that offers effective data management, image storage, retrieval, mining and analysis capabilities.
SIMST (Scientific Image Management System)
BioImagene SIMST is a powerful image database management system that enables better utilization of image information. SIMST provides robust storage, annotation, retrieval, and searching capabilities. It can be integrated with instruments, image analysis applications and storage applications to generate a solution that fits into your workflow. Most importantly, with SIMST, you can search and instantly retrieve images and annotations from any experiment or case.
Advantages
| Features
Advantages:
- Web based image storage, annotation, searching and retrieval.
- 21 CFR part 11 compliant.
- Corporate-wide scientific image management.
- Easily integrates with scientist's work practices.
- Queries user-definable alphanumeric fields.
- Displays results visually as a collection.
- Integrates with other experimental data.
- Web/Oracle based.
- Organizes and makes accessible the intellectual capital
of scientific images.
Features:
- Secure information sharing giving the user control
over who the information needs to be shared with.
- Configurable connectors for 3rd party tools.
- Instrument independent image acquisition.
- Integrates with chemiinformatics and bioinformatics
databases.
- Scalable for all hardware configurations with the
ability to handle a large number of images with no
constraint on image size.
Image Storage:
SIMST provides secure image storage through its Oracle Database to store thumbnails and intermediate images, with annotations and other metadata. The original images are stored in a local file system or other specialized storage devices. Images and annotations can be loaded into SIMST individually via API, in batch mode or directly from instruments generating the images.
Image Searching and Browsing:
SIMST provides simple and advanced search capabilities. Browse and select image thumbnails for full image view in the image browser. Easily view brief and full annotations. Images can be grouped by annotation for advanced navigation and searching. SIMST users have the ability to view previous image versions to track changes. Images can be moved between projects or deleted efficiently and securely.
Enterprise wide web enabled communication:
Its web-enabled platform makes SIMST the most versatile and accessible image archiving program. Image data can be accessed from any networked computer. SIMST facilitates collaboration and image data exchange between departments, facilities, and across scientific disciplines. Single interface for different silos of data
21 CFR Compliance:
SIMST has rigorous change tracking and signoff procedures to meet the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11. It ensures a clear and irrefutable record of every change made during the project lifecycle. The compliance aspect of SIMST takes care of the following features:
- Access is limited to authorized users.
- Records
can only be updated by users with sufficient
privileges.
- Timestamps are recorded for
each change.
- Changes are authenticated using electronic
signatures.
- Accurate change histories are maintained
for all.
- Meets audit trail requirements.
Connectors to 3rd party tools:
Connectivity is the most complex feature of integration and also one of the most expensive. SIMST contains inbuilt connectors that enable integration with 3rd party applications of leading industry vendors such as Raven, GE-Investigator, GE-Develop Toolbox, MetaMorph, Image-J, SpotFire.
Open Enterprise Architecture:
The SIMST framework is based on robust technologies like Java J2EE with Oracle database as the back end. This enables ease in scalability to support greater network loads reliably. The architecture is flexible to accommodate upcoming advancements in scientific technology.
