BioImagene to Co-Sponsor a Digital Imaging Workshop at the College of American Pathology (CAP) Foundation’s “Futurescape of Pathology” Conference

BioImagene, the leading provider of innovative digital pathology solutions, announced today the company will co-sponsor a pre-conference digital imaging workshop at the College of American Pathology (CAP) Foundation Conference Series, Futurescape of Pathology.

The workshop titled “Digital Imaging - A hands on experience” will take place on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. -  5:00 p.m. at the Westin O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill. The BioImagene portion of the workshop, devised and presented by Robert Monroe, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of BioImagene, will highlight the benefits of digital pathology and its transformational role in promoting education and collaboration among pathologists.

In the past decade, tools have become available to allow the pathology industry to transition into the digital age, allowing pathologist to view, manage, manipulate, analyze, report and collaborate slides- in the digital form. Dr. Ajit Singh, CEO of BioImagene who will speak at the Futurescape Conference Series III, 2009 will present “Digital Pathology: The last missing link for personalized medicine” on June 14.

“The Futurescape Conference and Digital Pathology Workshop are the only meetings that provide us with solid, tested ideas on how to deal with information that is disrupting and changing pathology,” said Mary E. Kass, M.D., FCAP, CAP Foundation President.

Dr. Singh observed, “Technology is revolutionizing the field of pathology and innovations in pathology will impact the delivery of healthcare in the future. Anatomic pathology is poised to undergo a fundamental shift from glass slides to digital images and from eyeball estimates to quantitative data.” He added, “We are excited to be working with the CAP Foundation for increasing awareness of digital pathology as that will ultimately move our industry closer to the goal of personalized medicine.”
