Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates Expands Pathology Services with BioImagene’s iScan Coreo Digital Pathology System to Enhance Pathology Offerings at Seventeen Maine Hospitals

Sunnyvale, Calif. August 11, 2009
BioImagene, the leading provider of innovative digital pathology solutions, today announced that they have signed an agreement with Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates of Bangor, Maine to provide the iScan Coreo™ system and services for automated slide scanning. Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates offers cost-effective, high quality anatomic and clinical pathology services to 17 hospitals in the state of Maine, overseeing 51,000 surgical pathology cases and 85,000 cytology cases each year.

"We were interested in the iScan Coreo because of its unique ability to provide live telepathology. With this capability, our pathologist assistants will be able to scan images that our pathologists can read from remote locations, improving our ability to provide rapid intraoperative consultations," commented Dr. George Eyerer, president of Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates. "We are also looking forward to hosting case conferences accessible by the web, giving pathologists at smaller hospitals the opportunity to interact with their peers and learn about the latest advances in pathology."

BioImagene designed the automated iScan Coreo slide scanner for high-volume, high-throughput clinical environments. The new live pathology feature gives users the ability to view slides under multiple magnifications from remote locations. High uptime, walk-away capability, an automated turret and operator ease-of-use are key attributes of the instrument.

The iScan Coreo is integrated with BioImagene’s Virtuoso software for image analysis, organization, management and retrieval. The system provides an end-to-end solution for all stakeholders in the digital pathology workflow, including pathologists, histotechnologists, lab administrators and clinicians.

"We are pleased to offer our digital pathology products to Dahl-Chase, an organization that is well known for providing the highest quality pathology services in the state of Maine," commented Dr. Ajit Singh, chief executive officer of BioImagene. "The implementation of the iScan Coreo will help Dahl-Chase continue to provide timely information for decision making, automate existing standards of care and ultimately, enable better patient care."
